Your first stained glass project can be a little scary when you first start out. So many thousands of different stained glass tools and gadgets that it seems impossible to determine which tools and supplies you need to buy to get started.

The good news is that getting started with your first piece is actually a lot easier than most people would think. Everyone doesn't start with the catholic church down the street, and you don't either. No sense in intimidating yourself with a big church project when you can get started with something for your kitchen window. As long as you get a good stained glass cutter, you can learn the basics of cutting and construction in just a few hours. You can also think about taking an entry level course at a community college or glass studio to have some guidance.

The best and most trusted stained glass is spectrum stained glass They have an extremely large selection of glass in different colors and textures and they are always adding more to their line. You can walk into pretty much any one of the spectrum dealers and ask for a sample set that will give you a few colors to get working with.

Most people worry that you need to spend a lot of money on stained glass tools. The answer is no. Sure, it might make your projects easier to cut with a powerful stained glass saw, but a simple cutter will do the trick. now, when you first start off you will need some of the essentials. Some of the essentials are safety glasses, glass cutter, breaking pliers, glass grinder, solder, flux, a stained glass pattern, and some stained glass. Don't let that large list trick you though, you can get started with all of these tools for under a couple hundred dollars.

As you advance in your ability, you can look into investing into higher end Inland, gryphon, or glastar stained glass grinders which will make shaping your stained glass a much easier job. Until then, just tough it out with a simple grinder tool like the cutter mate. A power stained glass grinder will make projects go faster by smoothing out rougher edges, but if you are just getting started then the basic models will do you just fine.

Stained glass art is one of the most rewarding experiences in the crafts. There are always new projects out there to test your skills and it's something that you can enjoy with the whole family. Don't let a salesperson talk you into every Morton Glass products available (there are a lot!), just stick with the basics and you can get your stained glass career started off with little expense!
