Ten Creative Ways to Say I Love You

When Valentine’s Day rolls around, if you have a special someone in your life, you want to have special memories.  While chocolate and flowers are traditional, and always welcome, sometimes it’s nice to get something different. Here are a few suggestions for a special Valentine’s Day.

  1. Chores – Is there something that your loved one does all the time?  Even if it’s something they enjoy doing it, surprise them and do it for them.
  2. Bath by Candlelight – Surprise the busy mom in your life with a candle light bath, with or without bubbles.  Keep the kids busy so she can soak in peace.
  3. Finish a project – is there a project that’s been needing done?  Work on it together, you not only get some time together, but also get something done around the house.
  4. Gadgets – surprise the man in your life with the latest gadget or tool he’s been waiting to buy.
  5. Scrapbook – put together a scrapbook of memories of your relationship to date.  Write some memories to go along with them.
  6. Music – put together mix of their favorite songs (not necessarily love songs) or call in and request a song for them on the radio for a time you know they will be listening (record it just in case they miss it).
  7. Notes – hide small notes of appreciation and affection in places where you’re loved one will find them.  Some of them could be found easily, and some could be hidden in a place they might not find for a few days, making for a nice surprise later.
  8. Indoor picnic – What’s more romantic than a picnic in the park?  Even if it’s cold and snowy out, spread a tablecloth on the living room floor, gather your favorite finger foods and enjoy a dinner for two.
  9. Coupons – use your imagination and make up a book of coupons for your loved one (or parents) for various things.  They could be silly, romantic of helpful.
  10. Day at the Spa – Even if you can’t afford a day at a real spa, create the feel at home.  Learn how to give a basic massage, have relaxing music playing and enjoy.

A LOVE SONG

Ah, love, my love is like a cry in the night,
A long, loud cry to the empty sky,
The cry of a man alone in the desert,
With hands uplifted, with parching lips,

Oh, rescue me, rescue me,
Thy form to mine arms,
The dew of thy lips to my mouth,
Dost thou hear me?—my call thro’ the night?

Darling, I hear thee and answer,
Thy fountain am I,
All of the love of my soul will I bring to thee,
All of the pains of my being shall wring to thee,
Deep and forever the song of my loving shall sing to thee,
Ever and ever thro’ day and thro’ night shall I cling to thee.
Hearest thou the answer?
Darling, I come, I come.

Bad Ideas for Valentine’s Day

Do you ever wonder what to do for your partner on Valentine’s Day? I think most of us do, and sometimes, we come up with the wrong idea.

Here are some things you shouldn’t do this Valentine’s Day:

  • Don’t give the same Valentine you gave last year.
  • Don’t buy a size too big. When in doubt, buy smaller.
  • Don’t forget your wallet for that romantic Valentine’s dinner.
  • Don’t leave your date alone with your parents, siblings, or pet. Too much reality, too soon.
  • Don’t give any household appliances for Valentine’s Day: if it’s something useful, its not meant for this occasion.
  • Don’t give your partner a ring that was meant for someone else, or at least get the inscription removed.
  • Don’t buy last minute cheap stuff form the grocery store
