Gifts for Sisters
We all have
several relationships in our lives but the strongest and most
lasting relationship we have is with our sisters. Some of these
sisters were already there when we arrived or they came into our
lives when we were very young. Some of these sisters aren't even
from our actual family, but they are our sisters all the same.
We expect that
a day will come when Mom and Dad will no longer be here. We know
that most women outlive their husbands or their relationship will
part through divorce. Our brothers, whether older or younger, may
not be there as the gray creeps into our hair.
Our sisters
provide us with the longest relationship in our lives. They are
there when we need to laugh or cry, they listen to everything we
have to say, they also argue with us, and encourage us to be all
that we can be.
Even though
they might not express everything we feel, here are a few gift
suggestions for that special person who is your sister.

Write her favorite
poem in calligraphy to be framed and hung in her bedroom.

Go through your old
pictures, cards, all the remembrances you share and put them
together into a memory book.

You certainly know
her tastes in soap, candy, perfume, and coffee. Choose something
that she considers a real luxury. Put several of these items in a
basket with a big bow.

Find old pictures of
just the two of growing up. Get a big clear dish or bowl and
decoupage them as a collage to the outside. Cover the outside of
the photographs with glue and gold.

Find that special
restaurant your sister always wanted to go to, but hasn't. Make a
reservation for just the two of you to have lunch.

Take your sister to a
great day at the spa. Arrange for the two of your to have a mud
bath, facial, the works.

Rent a beach cabin
for a week or a weekend. Arrange for just the two of you to spend
time soaking up the sun, walking the beach together, gathering
shells, touring the local shops and remembering your times
together.

Have a gardener plant
two roses or your sister's favorite flower in her yard. Send her a
card with a note that these two flowers will grow and bloom
together side by side just as the two of us have.

Get several silk
flowers of your sister's favorite bloom. Cut off the stems and
hand sew them very close together on the front of a pillow so the
whole front of the pillow looks like a garden.

For sisters that are
far away, find a watch that has two square or rectangular watches
on the same band. Set the time on one watch to your time and the
other one to her time zone.
