Don't be Fooled!
For as long as we can remember, people have
taken great pleasure on pulling small pranks on friends and co-workers.
Back in 1582, the New Year started on April 1st. Pope Gregory ordered
a new calendar (the
Gregorian Calendar) to replace the old Julian Calendar. The new
calendar called for New Year's Day to be celebrated January 1st.
Some people didn't hear of the change, and some didn't want to
believe in it, so they still celebrated the New Year on April 1st. Those
that followed the new calendar took great enjoyment in referring to them
as "April Fools" and played tricks on them.
Now, many years later, we all still enjoy playing April Fool's on
unsuspecting victims. So, watch out today: don't get fooled!
I always welcome your feedback: feel free to send it
here.
Until next time,

How to
Pick Treasured Baby Shower Gifts
You've just been invited to a baby shower. What should you
bring? Bottles? Baby blankets? Diapers? There are so many
possibilities: how do you choose?
Here are some ideas to get you started:
-
Get together with a few friends and buy them something they
really need (a stroller, a crib, a baby swing, etc.)
-
Look for a nifty, helpful, baby gadget or gear to make the
new parent's life easier: maybe a next-generation baby monitor or
diet recording system.
-
Gift certificates, although not exactly thoughtful, can be
very useful and appreciated.
-
Offering to baby-sit for the frazzled parents is a very
attractive gift.
-
Give them the gift of great memories: a baby album, a
one-time use camera, a journal...
-
Create a "Baby Buffet": go to the grocery store and purchase
one jar of every kind of baby food and bottled juice that the
store sells. This is a very practical gift because it will be
fully used, and gives mom a chance to find out what the baby will
eat.
-
One thing most people forget is the new parents. You can do
something just for them: maybe a gourmet goodie basket, or a
relaxing kit with bath and body lotions, candles, and a nice
music CD (they can really use this once the baby comes)
And remember, being there for the lucky family is the best gift
of all.
The list is endless, and if you want to give them
some special goodies, you can now create your
own basket with just the items you love.

National Humor Month
The month of April will mark the 28th
anniversary of National Humor Month, the invention of best-selling
humorist Larry Wilde.
Wilde started his special month because April
starts off with the fun of April Fools Day, but also can be very
stressful with Tax Day on April 15.
In June of 2000, the American Film Institute
in Los Angeles asked a panel of experts to choose the funniest
movies of all time.
The jury of 1,800 was given a list of 500
movies to pick from and here are their top ten picks. So, make some
popcorn, sit back, relax and laugh while watching these classics.
