Be

What are we watching for? April Fool's Day, of
course.
People have taken great pleasure on pulling small pranks
on friends and co-workers on April 1 for as long as
anybody can remember. Just how did all this get started
anyway, you might wonder?
It all goes back to 16th century France, when the New
Year actually started on April 1. Pope Gregory changed
all that with his new calendar for the Christian world
introduced in 1562, which moved the start of the New
Year to January 1. There were those who didn't hear of
the change or didn't want to believe in it, so they
remained steadfast in April 1 as the first day of the
New Year. Those that followed the new calendar took
great enjoyment in referring to them as "April
Fools" and played tricks on the non-believers.
Hundreds of years later, we all still enjoy playing
April Fool's on unsuspecting victims. So, if someone
tells you the company is shortening the workday by four
hours or the old classic, "your shoes are
untied," remember, we warned you!

birthdays and employee anniversaries so that they feel
they are an integral part of your corporate family.
