Father’s Day is a time to reflect upon and thank dads for their generosity, words of wisdom and support. Gifts play an integral role and have become a customary part of Father’s Day. Yet, sometimes it can be difficult trying to find the perfect gift that says thank you, I love you and I appreciate all the sacrifices that you’ve made.
This year, forget about the tacky necktie and give your father a gift that he’ll truly appreciate. Think about his hobbies, his career and his wants. Has he mentioned anything that he would like to have, but for whatever reason he hasn’t splurged on it yet? Or ask his friends, other family members or your mom. They might have some insight to share. If you’re still undecided, you can always choose one of the terrific gift ideas below. They’re pretty neutral and should suit the taste of almost any dad.
Tickets to a Sporting Event: If your dad is a sport nut (like most dads!), then tickets to his favorite sporting event should be, well, sporty. If you’re ordering online or by phone, call well in advance. It can take up to six weeks or more to get the tickets by mail.
Wireless Rain Gauge: Your dad will never have to trudge outside in mucky weather again to check his rain collector. With a wireless rain gauge, he can sit in the comfort of his home and watch the inches add up. Most models feature a self emptying canister and wireless LCD display monitor.
Leather Jacket: For a lasting impression, pick up dad a sleek leather jacket. You can find leather jackets in various shapes and sizes. Different lengths such as trench, knee, three quarter and hip all make a statement. Popular colors are traditional black and brown. If your dad lives in a cooler environment with harsh winters, than opt for a jacket equipped with a zip-out lining or lambskin interior.
Favorite Movie Collection: Does your dad have a favorite actor or actress or does he just love a certain type of movie? If so, buy him a collection of his favorite feature films or TV shows on DVD. A lot of fathers out there love John Wayne, the Godfather, Alfred Hitchcock and Clint Eastwood. Or consider a Baywatch gift set for added smiles!
Hmmm, what would dear dad like more: another tie or a really cool leather jacket? Would he jump for joy over a pair of gloves or a pair of tickets to watch the Chargers in action? Father’s Day gift giving really is a no brainer!
